A working indicator valve is needed for accurate cylinder pressure measurement on marine diesel engines. It connects electronic and mechanical cylinder pressure indicators and peak pressure indicators to the combustion chamber. Indicator valves should be checked regularly, because a leaking or blocked valve can distort pressure readings.
