Material thickness (residual metal)

Multigauge 5600

Application

Ships often suffer from the most severe cases of metal loss due to the corrosive effects of salt water.
The ultrasonic wall thickness gauges in our product range are used to measure metal thickness without first removing the paint layers. This facilitates the measurement without prior preparation of the measuring point, i.e. sanding or flexing of paint coatings, and shortens the measuring time.

Simple operation

The Multigauge Series measures through paint coatings with ultrasound and the 3-way echo measuring method and indicates the residual metal thickness without coating.

The connected probe is automatically recognised by the device, including the stored calibration data. Thus, the test heads can be exchanged without recalibration! Calibration for non-ferrous metals can be carried out simply by entering the speed of sound or by calibrating to a known workpiece. The 3-way echo measurement method is required by IACS guidelines for measurements in the marine sector. Corresponding certificates are available!

Material thickness (residual metal)

Multigauge 5700 with data logger

Application

The Multigauge 5700 Datalogger wall thickness meter is a general purpose thickness meter which has all the same features of the Multigauge 5600, but with the added advantage of having the capability to store measurements within the gauge. The meter uses Multiple Echo to ignore coatings, measuring only the remaing metal thickness.

Simple operation

The Multigauge 5700 Datalogger wall thickness meter has all the same features of the Multigauge 5600 but with the added advantage of having the capability to store measurements within the gauge. Templates can be set up to store readings in a grid, string or combination of both, allowing complete versatility for all applications. Data transfer between the wall thickness meter and PC is done using a wireless RF transceiver. Intuitive menus ensure setup is very easy whilst the bright full colour LCD display can be used in all light conditions. Dedicated software, called Communicator, acts as the interface between the gauge and the PC. The gauge uses multiple echo to ignore coatings up to 6mm thick. An optional leather case is also available for extra protection.
